Eye Health And Exams
It is said “The eyes are the windows to the soul.” To that end, your eyes provide early detection for many different diseases which can affect more than just your vision. During your annual, regularly scheduled eye examination, we routinely perform tests to evaluate the health of your eyes, as well as look for signs and symptoms of many different diseases to determine the best options to correct your visual needs.
What is a Comprehensive Health Exam? Unlike a basic eye check-up, a comprehensive eye exam involves a thorough, detailed examination of your eyes and visual abilities. During the exam Dr. Grossett will ask you about your medical history, family history, medications you may be taking and your personal lifestyle. All of these are elements that can affect your vision.

Keratoconus
Keratoconus is a rare, progressive disease that affects the cornea, which is the clear, transparent layer at the front of the eye. Due to the irregular shape of the cornea, specialty contact lenses are typically prescribed to allow the best possible vision for the patient, which can no longer be achieved with eyeglasses. Due to the progressive nature of Keratoconus the cornea may still change and continued, frequent follow up with your doctor is essential to maximize the quality of vision.
Scleral Lenses
A scleral contact lens is a large contact lens that rests on the sclera and creates a tear-filled vault over the cornea. Scleral lenses are designed to treat a variety of eye conditions, many of which do not respond to other forms of treatment. The lenses are made of materials that allow oxygen to pass through the lens, promoting long-term corneal health and comfort.

Who We Serve
Professionals
Having good vision helps you interact in the world around you. Even if you don’t have noticeable changes in your vision, it’s important to have regulary scheduled eye exams. Some vision problems have no early warning signs or cures. However, if detected early and treated, the disease process can be slowed so your vision loss is reduced. Your eye care professional can perform the needed tests and prescribe eyewear or medication to slow or reduce vision loss and help you see your best.
Individuals with Age-Related Conditions
The leading causes of blindness and low vision are primarily age-related eye diseses such as age-related macular degeneration (AMD), cataract, diabetic retinopathy and glaucoma. The impact of these age-related conditions can greatly affect or takeover your life, if it has not been detected or addressed early. We’re here to help you prevent the development of or manage age-related conditions. Our expertise and technology detect these sooner than becoming a problem later. We will limit or completely stop the development of these conditions so that you can get the best quality of life with your family and friends.
Diagnosed with a Specific Eye Disease
More than 3.4 million people in the U.S. age 40 and older meet the definition of “legal blindness” or have corrected vision and vision loss is among the top 10 causes of disability in adults over age 18. The good news is that it’s never too late to start taking care of your eye health. Regular comprehensive eye exams can lead to early diagnosis. This is key to correcting or slowing most eye conditions.
